Tidnish Bridge, Nova Scotia

Excellent example of the use of the Keystone. The stones were all cut in Scotland, marked,
shipped here and re-assembled in 1895No mortar - note the fit of each stone.

"the stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner"

This bridge is located north of Amherst, Hwy 366, near Baie Verte.
The plan was to build a railway from Baie Verte to Chignecto Bay ( at Amherst ) to lift ships from Baie Verte to Chignecto, thereby saving the trip all the way around the south end of N.S. -
After building the bridge and part of the railway - he ran out of money and investors.
The approach off the highway is not easy to find - it's just a trail.
You have to park on the Hwy and walk in.
There's a swinging bridge on the trail similar to Capilano (but not as long)
from Companion Lorne Hammett, Cyrus Chapter
